Sustainability

 Principles of sustainable development

Flampro Limited aims to adhere to the following principles and practices to support sustainability and protect the environment.

Contribute to building a sustainable society, present and future.

o Ditching and if not possible, minimising, the use of single use plastic items.

o Using renewable energy suppliers for powering equipment and appliances.

o Ensuring all materials are recycled or reused.

o Choosing organic, locally produced in season foods to reduce food miles.

Apply professional and responsible judgement and take a leadership role.

o Keeping up-to-date on sustainable development practices and encourage their implementation.

o Build sustainability into every day practice and management considerations.

o Lead by example, influencing others to improve their sustainability performance in the engineering supply chain.

Do more than just comply with legislation and codes: being prepared to challenge the status quo.

o Making a commitment to becoming a carbon neutral business.

o Re-invest a percentage of profits into re-forestation and carbon offset programmes.

o Source and buy energy efficient tools, IT equipment and appliances.

Use resources efficiently and effectively.

o Dispose of materials not commonly recycled at designated refuse sites.

o Install Smart energy meters to monitor and where possible, reduce, energy consumption.

o Use energy efficient light bulbs and lighting.

Seek multiple views to solve sustainability challenges.

o Research differing approaches to sustainability challenges from a variety of organisations.

o Consider the potential impacts for future generations.

o Research and contribute to carbon offset programmes to mitigate existing business carbon footprint.

Manage risk to minimise adverse impact and maximise benefit to people and the environment.

o Strive to ensure responsible and ethical sourcing of resources, tools and electrical equipment.

o Fires cause toxic smoke and gases, which when released can cause damage to people and the environment. Ideally, the fire safety risk assessment will prevent this from occurring.

o Undertake an energy use/carbon foot print audit and take steps to both reduce and offset any environmental impact.
